Post Industrial chic with its whitewashed walls and exposed dull metals against vintage french stucco with baroque touches are a disarming combination. It’s the impact of the sheer space and ever so much Curio under one roof that really appealed to the inherent Magpie in me at  Le Mill . Much has been said about the location, but the space makes up for any directional mishaps that may occur en-route.

The occasion being Designer Saloni Lodha’ taffeta cocktail dresses s showing of her recent collection which was launched at London Fashion Week. This is one young designer with impressive credentials to her design career. She studied in Mumbai then moved to Hong Kong in 2002 sweetheart bridesmaid dress , where she began setting up pop-up boutiques and selling one-off pieces of clothing that she had designed. She collaborated with artists in Hong Kong and artisans back home and her trunk shows quickly made a name through great press in leading magazines.  A brief stint at  St. Martins in London later, Saloni decided to move there. In she debuted her label with her signature style that subtly draws from her heritage but focused on a more modern and romantic silhouette.

Le Mill’s variety includes home furniture and decorative pieces;Interesting kantha cushions and ceramic glazed crockery; fashion accessories; clothes; and fresh flowers. There’s also a quaint cafe which serves organic goodies sweetheart bridesmaid dress , and also has free wi-fi. Its quite the spot for a lingering meal and conversation, maybe even the odd work meeting. Most of the stock has been sourced from designers who work with Indian materials and manufacture locally, but rarely retail in India. Definitely worth a dekko.
